On 9th October 2024, India Post released this set of commemorative stamps to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
Established in 1874, in Bern, Switzerland, UPU serves a crucial role in standardising international postal regulations and ensuring seamless mail exchange among its 192 member countries. The commemorative stamps highlight the UPU's legacy and its contributions to global postal services, symbolising cooperation, innovation, and inclusivity. India joined the UPU in 1876, just two years after its establishment in 1874.
UPU celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024 with a series of events under the theme "150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations”.
