On 28th January 2009, India Post issued this commemorative stamp dedicated to the Heritage Monument Preservation efforts by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH). This stamp was part of a series that highlighted the importance of preserving India's rich cultural and architectural heritage. This stamp series featured images of India’s heritage monuments, including the Jaisalmer Fort, Mongyu Monastery in Ladakh, Saint Anne's Church in Goa, and Qila Mubarak in Patiala.

This stamp, depicting the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort, was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013, and is renowned for its stunning architecture and rich history.

INTACH, founded in 1984, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation and preservation of India's cultural heritage. In 2007, INTACH was granted special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). INTACH’s status allows it to participate in UN meetings and contribute to discussions on cultural heritage preservation at a global level.
