These stamps were issued by India Post on 26th June 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the UN.
During a special session between 22nd – 24th October the same year, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the UN, world leaders gathered at the UN General Assembly to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, and emphasised the importance of international cooperation and peace. The discussions also addressed global issues, including poverty, conflict resolution, sustainable development, and human rights.
During the session, calls were raised for strengthening the UN's capacity to effectively respond to global challenges and enhance its role in promoting peace and security. The session attracted prominent global leaders, including Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao, Prime Minister of India.
