On 16th October 1995, India Post issued this stamp on the 50th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). This stamp commemorates both the anniversary of the FAO's founding and World Food Day.
The FAO was established on 16th October 1945 and has played a pivotal role in addressing global issues relating to food, agriculture, nutrition, and rural development.
India is a founding Member of the FAO and is also a Member of the FAO Council, which is its Executive Body.
India was one of the founding member of the FAO, and FAO established operations in India in 1948. Since, FAO has partnered with the Government of India in the development of sustainable production systems and expansion of the natural resource base covering agriculture, forestry, dairy development and fisheries.
