75 years of UNICEF with India

On 11th December 2024, India Post issued this commemorative postage stamp to mark the 75th anniversary of UNICEF's partnership with India, recognising UNICEF's vital role in championing children's rights and well-being.

Since its inception after World War II, UNICEF has focused on protecting and supporting children and young people at risk, regardless of their identity or location. Its unwavering mandate is to ensure children's rights to survive, thrive, and reach their full potential.

UNICEF began its journey in India in 1949, partnering with the government and people to promote and protect children's rights and well-being. Over the past 75 years, UNICEF has been a committed partner in India's development and humanitarian efforts, guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and India ‘Viksit Bharat’. UNICEF works with the Government of India to advance the rights and development of India’s children and supports and facilitates equitable access to quality health and nutrition services. Among other things, its work focuses on protecting children from violence and exploitation and delivering climate-resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
